England Netball win back-to-back matches at Commonwealth Games

England’s perfect start to the Commonwealth Games continued after a one-sided beating of Malawi.

England won 74-49 a day after beating Scotland in their Pool B opener on the Gold Coast.

Serena Guthrie's availability was a pre-match boost for England - she had been carried off the court with an injury in Thursday's match.

England were 33-25 ahead at the half-way stage but ramped things up in the second half.

"We need to focus on what we can do to keep building on our performances and make sure that we get the job done," said Natalie Haythornthwaite.

"Even though the score line against Malawi had extended quite a bit, they were still pushing us till the final whistle and I think that'll be the same for Uganda.

"We know that Uganda will be wanting to win so it's important for us that we don't get complacent at all. I think this team's really good at not doing that because we know that if we take the foot off the pedal, a team would be right there wanting to get the win against us."

Elsewhere, New Zealand beat Wales 70-44 to also record their second consecutive win in Pool B.

England play Uganda on Sunday, Wales on Monday and world No 2 New Zealand next Wednesday.
